World War I Code Talker. Enlisted 26 April 1918, honorably discharged 31 May 1919 after serving in Company H, 355th Infantry, 89th Division.

Married Ethel Many Deeds (1902-1961) 8 February 1921 in Dewey, South Dakota. Children: Jesse Everett (1922-1956), Henry Winfred (1924-1939), Corinne Maud (1926), Lorraine/Elaine Lawrence (1930), Theodore FindAGrave #206064466, and Aurelia Violet (1938-1972).

Served with the 75th Company 164th Depot Brigade 89th Division
Arrived in France 28 June 1918.

Participated in these battles at the front, with dates:
Toul Sector - 8 August 1918 to 12 September 1918
St. Mihiel Offensive - 12th to 16th September 1918
Meuse Argonne Offensive - 20 October 1918 to 11 November 1918.

Attained the rank of Corporal 30 October 1918.
