Fred was born on January 31, 1927, at the DeGraff Memorial Hospital in North Tonawanda, NY to Charles W. and Violet C. (McGregor) Wright. He attended North Tonawanda High School and graduated after his military career in the United States Army during World War II. Fred entered into the U.S. Army on July 10, 1945. He proudly served our country until his honorable discharge on Sept 16, 1948.
After his military career, Fred attended Valparaiso University and graduated with an Economics Degree in 1954. He worked as an insurance executive and retired from Transamerica Insurance Company in 1989.
He married Dorothy M. Mesenbrink in 1952. She passed away in 2008. Fred remarried on at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Battle Creek. They shared 36 loving years together.
Fred was an avid reader and photographer and he donated his photography skills as a volunteer to Habitat for Humanity. In his younger years, he raced sprint cars and sailboats which brought him thrills and joy. Fred was an ace bridge player, lifted weights and worked out well into his late 80's.
Fred is survived by his wife, 3 children, 2 stepsons, 7 grandchildren and step-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Violet Wright, daughter, Cynthia Ann Wright, brother, Harry Wright, sisters, Shirley and Edith Wright.
Burial will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
