Services for Mrs. Durelle Jewell Gary, 84, of Columbia, will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 29, 2002, in the Chapel of Riser Funeral Home, Columbia, with Rev. Jay Morgan officiating. Burial will be in the Columbia Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Gary was born August 8, 1918 in Winn Parish to the union of William Robert and Nena Jordan Jewell. She died Friday, September 27, 2002 at North Monroe Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Woodrow Gary; two sisters, Yvonne Ross and Willie Mae Brown; and three brothers, Aubrey Jewell, Olin Jewell, and Gordon James.
She is survived by her son, Billy Gene Langley of Fuqua/Varina, NC; daughters and sons-in-law, Claudelle Volentine and husband Henry of Grayson, and Shirley Thurman and husband Paul of West Monroe; eight grandchildren, Gary Tarver of West Monroe, Peggy Kelly and husband Al, and Henry Volentine III and wife Mandy, all of Monroe, Karen Volentine of Grayson, Sabrina Langley, Erick Langley, Bryan and Cissy Langley, and Kelly Deese and husband Bill, all of North Carolina; ten great grandchildren; three great, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Charles Jewell, James Jewell, Al Kelly, John Ross, and Gene and Leo Walker.
Honorary pallbearers are Burns Grivette, Scott Lively, Walter Speegle, and Martin Walker.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM Saturday, September 28, 2002, at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia.
