David Jack Beckham, 64, of 1511 Wynne St., died at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Shannon Medical Center. Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel. Silas Tripplet of Fairground Road Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery.

He was born September 7, 1923 in Ranger and had been a resident of San Angelo the past 35 years. He was married to Ruth A. Maney November 17, 1947 in Newcastle, PA. He was a member of the Fairground Road Church of Christ.

In the Summer of 1943 he joined the U.S. Navy and was assigned to the U.S.S. Tennessee and later to the U.S.S. Oakhill until November 1945. He moved to San Angelo in May 1949 and started work for the San Angelo Police Department on January 21, 1953. He worked in the Motor Patrol Division, in Criminal Investigation as a Detective, and then the Pawnshop Section. He retired as a Master Patrolman April 30, 1983.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Beckham; one son, Jack M. Beckham of San Angelo; one daughter, Connie Ainsley of Warren, Ohio; one grandson, Jason M. Brown of Warren; one sister, Edna Erie Christie of Beaver, PA.; and one sister, Wanda L. Loofbourraw of McAllen.

Pallbearers will be Arnold M. Landgraf, Cliff Pieser, Ken Harrington, Ralph Englert, Dave Magee, Jake Young, Billy Pool, and Marion Sparks.
