CHURCH, Barbara Castro passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2018 surrounded by her loving husband, Dave and family.
Barbara was born on May 21, 1942 in Douglas, AZ to parents, Angel and Abbie (Ferguson) Castro. She was the youngest of their three daughters. She graduated from Douglas High School and then continued her education obtaining a beautician license from The Cosmetology of Tucson Beauty School.
She married Dave Church in 1965 and together they began a family while traveling in the military. They eventually set roots in Tucson and focused on raising their family.
Over the years, Barbara changed her career and became a Quality Control Inspector for Lamba and Allied Signals Electronics which she enjoyed and excelled at.
As Barb's children grew and grandchildren came into the picture, she became the family matriarch. Nana was a major influence in all of our lives. She believed in family, faith, and education. Barbara was a loving mother and wife. She was always cooking and caring for all. She sacrificed much time and effort to ensure that her family and friends were taken care of and that everyone had the basic necessities.
Nana's house smelled of love, always, especially when she made her world class tamales. It was always a family affair to make those tamales of love. Those special times will truly be missed.
Barbara is preceded in death by her mother, Abbie and father, Angel; sister, Olga Romero, and son, Robert.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Dave Church; daughter, Cyndi (John); sons, David and Raymond (Loring); sister, Sophie; loving grandchildren, Nicholas, Samuel, James, Jacob, Katie and niece, Terry.
A Memorial Service will be held beginning at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 4, 2018 at St. Pius X Church, 1800 N. Camino Pio Decimo, Tucson, AZ, 85715. All are invited for light refreshments after the service.
