Nathan D. Guy, age 39, of Washington, Iowa, died Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at the University of Iowa Hospital following a nineteen month battle with cancer.

Celebration of life services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 3rd, at the United Methodist Church in Washington, with Pastor Kwang Song officiating. Calling hours will begin 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church where the family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery at a later date.

Nathan was born April 11, 1979, in Fairfield, Iowa, the son of Larry and Cindy (Loeffler) Guy. He graduated from Washington High School in 1997. Nathan received his Bachelors Degree from UNI and later received his Masters Degree from William Penn College. He was united in marriage to Renee Johnson on September 22, 2007, in Washington, Iowa.

Nathan was employed as a Senior Product Director for National General Insurance Company in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Washington. Nathan’s greatest passion was time with his family. He was an active member of the Washington Community Y. He enjoyed working out, running, mushrooming, playing cards, camping, fishing, golfing, and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Fan. Nathan had a very competitive edge and he was always the champion.

He is survived by his wife, Renee Guy; two sons, Creighton and Dawson Guy; daughter, Liv Postl; parents, Larry and Cindy Guy; sister, Nicole Greiner and husband Mike; nephews, Chase and Caden Greiner; niece, Colbie Greiner; grandmother, Mildred Guy; grandmother, Carole Ann Loeffler; father and mother-in-law, Gary and Rita Johnson; sister-in-law, Jennifer McClenahan and husband Craig; nieces, Zoe and Rory Wagner; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Nathan was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Donald Guy and Carol Loeffler; infant son, Preston Postl; aunt, Linda Gingerich; and cousin, Travis Loeffler.
