Sandra G Butler, 74, was born on April 18, 1944 in Big Spring, TX to Pearlie and Travis Odell. She went home to her Lord and Savior on February 26, 2019.

She married Sidney Butler on February 15, 1964, and moved to Hobbs in 1965, where she raised 5 children.

Sandra was a devoted Sunday School teacher for many years. She served as church secretary for 17 years at Belvue Baptist Church. She was a ministry partner with Sid for 25 years, in Sid’s ministries. In retirement, she continued her work at Mail Services, where she made many friends and touched numerous lives.

Sandra’s greatest joy was serving God and her family. She was known as Mom or Grandma to many that she considered her extended family. Sandra showed love generously and was loved by many. She was a collector of wind chimes and bells. She was also a great cook. Her Christmas fudge and strawberry cake will be missed.

She is preceded in death by her father Travis Odell, her mother Pearlie Nason, step father Lloyd Nason, her daughter Renee Garrett, her son Johnny Butler, a grandson John Butler and great-grandson Kadyn Bolden.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Sidney Butler, son Tony (Toni) Bolden, of Ruidoso, NM, Gene (Keitha) Butler of Midland, Tx, and Steven (Krista) Butler of Hobbs, NM, 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and many others that called her Mom or Grandma.

She will be greatly missed by many.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in her memory, to the John Thomas Butler Memorial Scholarship Fund or the New Mexico Baptist Children’s Home.
