Original name: Willie Dallas Williamson (son of Willie Frank Williamson) Birth date on headstone is incorrect (birth date is March 3, 1923, per original birth certificate from Alberta, Canada). It was known in the family that Dallas "fudged" on the year of his birth so he could enter military service early.

Willie Dallas Williamson Jones (also known as both Bill and Dallas) is the youngest son born born March 3, 1923, in Rumsey, Alberta Canada, to Willie Frank Williamson and Florence May (Arnold) Williamson. He emigrated through Canada with his parents and siblings Leonard Frank Arnold/Williamson (D2004) and Marsadies (Williamson) Adair (D1982). In January of 1936, his father died and his mother married James M. Jones (D1955) in December 1936.

It was following that marriage that Dallas and his siblings assumed the last name of Jones. (Confirmation of formal adoption papers have never been found, but an affidavit was signed by his mother explaining his name change in 1941.) His mother and Mr. Jones added two siblings to their family; May and Eve.

Dallas attended trade school at Boys' Poli(technic) in Portland, Oregon which was a trade school for high school boys (formerly The Portland School of Trades and precursor to Benson Polytechnic High School). No record of graduation has been found, but it was well known that he altered his birth year to become two years OLDER (from 1923 to 1921) to become eligible to join the military where he met his wife Hazel Merline Fife somewhere while stationed on the east coast.

Dallas and Merline had three children. Their oldest daughter was Helen Marie (1949), followed by Deborah Jean (1954), and his only son Gerald Lee (1955). Sadly Gerald died just one day following his birthday; cause unknown. The family eventually settled in Southern California (San Diego) where the girls attended school and met future spouses. Little is know about his employment post military, other than our mother kept in regular contact with her brother and his family.

The curious thing about Dallas' family history is that all of the family members died around the age of 40. Yes, some were smokers, but Dallas likely was exposed to cancer causing chemicals at a naval base and transmitted them to his children. We welcome any further information about our Uncle Dallas and his family. Thank you.
