Chatham…….Helen Delores “Pudding” Smith Adkins, age 62 of Chatham went to be with the Lord on February 13, 2019 while on a cruise to Jamaica. She was doing what she loved best with her husband of 31 years and lifelong friend Ricky “Redman” Adkins.
Born January 5, 1957 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Robert Glenn Smith and Geneva Mozelle Moore Smith.
She was predeceased by her grandmother, Estelle Moore.
Mrs. Adkins was a seamstress with Bassett-Walker. She was a Redskins fan; and enjoyed watching TV, some of her favorite shows were wrestling, Twilight, and The Young and the Restless.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her canine child, “Jack Rabbit;” three sisters, Carolyn Davis, Tammy King and husband, Tommy and Wanda Smith; one brother, James Robert “Jamie” Smith; her mother-in-law, Virginia Adkins; four nieces, Tonya King, Tanya King, Holley King and Chastity Davis; one nephew, Christopher Adkins; a host of great-nieces and great-nephews, Arianna Adkins, Brooklyn Loomis, Rachel McKenzie, Tyler Loomis, Donte’ King, Robby Gsell and one that is on the way and special friends, Michelle Niblett, Ricky Niblett, and Bobbie Smith.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Bobby Brumfield. Burial will follow in the Adkins Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 22, 2019 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
