Jon William Adams, age 73, of Quincy passed away at 6:05 a.m. on February 26, 2019 at the Illinois Veterans Home at Quincy.

Funeral Services honoring his life will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Schilling Funeral Home. Burial with Military Rites will follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2019 at the funeral home. Masonic Rites will take place at 7:00 p.m. following the visitation. An additional visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.

Jon was born on July 16, 1945 in Charleston the son of Earl Anderson and Mary Eloise (Engle) Adams.
Survivors include his children, Staci (Phil) Adams Lang of Ashmore, IL, Marta Adams (Jerry Phillips) of Meredosia, IL, Jaime Adams of Cerro Gordo, IL, Ryan (Alexis) Adams; grandchildren, Colt Phillips, Jennifer Lang, Thaddeus Lang, Caleb Nihiser, Connor Nihiser and Kirsten Nihiser; great-grandchild, Brentley Phillips; brother, Jim (Emily) Adams of Bartonville, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jon was preceded in death by his parents.

Jon served honorably in the United States Air Force. He was blessed with a charismatic personality that endeared others to him. In his younger years, Jon worked at Phipps Shoe store and The First National Bank in Charleston, though he later found his true calling helping others in funeral service. He graduated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in 1990 and would go on to become the founder of Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston.

Memorial donations in his honor may be given to Illinois Veterans Home at Quincy, 1707 North 12th Street, Quincy, IL 62301.
