Brent passed away Saturday, February 23, 2019, at his home in Lindale. He was born February 6, 1942, in Gouverneur, New York, to the late Sherman and Margaret (LaRose) Smith. Brent was a lifelong resident of Gouverneur, New York, before moving to Lindale 11 years ago. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Lindale, the Knights of Columbus, was the Chief Financial Officer of the American Legion, and served his country in the United States Army.
Brent loved hunting and fishing and was a member of the Poker Flats Hunting Club and enjoyed camping for 42 years at Black Lake. Brent was retired after 27 years of service with Corning Glass in Canton, NY.
He is preceded in death by son, Steven Smith; brother, Maitland Smith; sister, Beverly Pike; and a nephew, Michael Pike.
Brent is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy Smith of Lindale, Texas; daughters, Cherie Benjamin and Mike Guzzey of Binghamton, New York, Amy Lamneck and husband, Robert and son, Sean of Suffolk, Virginia, and Lisa Box and husband, Douglas of Huntsville, Texas; grandchildren, Jessica Benjamin, and Kiernan Box and wife, Courtney; great grandchild, Cooper Box; and numerous nieces and nephews.
