Mrs. Dawson was born in Phenix City, Alabama on September 21st, 1929 to the late Rosa Lee Parker and Lewis C. Foster. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Dawson; son, Jerry Hamil; daughter, Diane Bell; brothers, Virgil Foster, Gene Foster, and Bruce Foster.
She was a member of the Gethsemane Baptist Church in Beulah, Alabama.
Mrs. Dawson loved the Lord, loved her church, and loved her church family. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She loved vacationing with her family and especially enjoyed vacationing in the Great Smoky Mountains.
She worked for the West Point Stevens company for over 30 years. She then went on to work for the Opelika Nursing Home and the Lee County Hospital, now known as the East Alabama Medical Center.
She is survived by her children, Diann Hamil, Pan (Dennis) Byrd, Mickey (Cindy) Hamil, Angie (Billy) Collier, Mike Dawson, Rita Dawson, Tracy Dawson; ten grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 1st, 2019 at 3:00P.M. EST at the Beulah Baptist Church with interment following in Beulah Cemetery. The Reverend Mitchell Smith and the Reverend Jim Dykes officiating. Her family will be receiving friends at the church on Friday from 2:00P.M. EST until 3:00P.M. EST.
