Jake C. Smith, age 81, of Midway, passed away Monday morning at his home.

He retired from Lenzing Fibers after 42 years of service and was a member of Beulah Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife: Joyce Smith; two sons: Larry Smith and Lynn Smith; three granddaughters: Ashley Hall (Dwayn) of Kearney, Nebraska, Clarissa Smith of Morristown, and Lexie Smith of Mosheim; two great-grandchildren: Sierra and Logan Hall both of Nebraska; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Shirley and Joe Susong; one niece: Robin Adcock all of Bybee.

He was the son of the late John and Ona Kirk Smith.

There will be no formal visitation. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Chapel Mausoleum at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. The Rev. John Rogers will officiate. Entombment will follow in the Chapel Mausoleum. Family and friends are asked to meet at the mausoleum for the service. Pallbearers will be Jerry Lynn Kirk, Gene Johnson, Branden Mullican, Rocky Byrd, Shane Waddle, and Barney Jacobs.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Beulah Baptist Church Building Fund.

The family expresses their appreciation to the staff of Amedysis Hospice and Shawn Long.
