WEST ONEONTA- SHIRLEY ROSE CHAFFEE ENCK; Shirley Rose Chaffee Enck, 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at Chase Memorial Nursing Home in New Berlin. She was born in LeRaysville, PA the daughter of Louis and Clara (Carr) Chaffee. She married Raymond R. Enck on June 16, 1950 in Otego. Shirley was a wife, mother, grandmother, foster mother, homemaker and worked for several years at Bendix Corp. (now Amphenol). Shirley was a Resident of Garrattsville from 1952 to 1968 when her family moved to West Oneonta. She then lived in West Oneonta for 38 years. She was a member of the Morris Methodist Church. Shirley is survived by three daughters; Rebecca Enck and partner Jane Hucks, Judy (Dale) Shiner, Trudie (Joseph) O’Sullivan; Three sons, Ronald (Patricia) Enck, Robin (Catherine) Enck and Richard (Alice) Enck; Daughter in law, Bev Rockwell; Brothers in law, Sherwood (Donna) Enck and J. Robert Enck; Grandchildren, Sandra (Jim) Conklin and Michael (Lili) Shiner. Mark (Kelly) and Matthew (Laura)Rockwell, Chad Milazzo, Mariah Muller, Brock McCord, Michelle(Danny) Dean, and Dustin Smith, Andrew (Carrie), Mitchell, Kathryn, and John Enck, Stacy (Wendell) Long, Jeremy (Brandy) Enck ,Jennifer (Jake) Freer, Melissa (Chris) Wilson, Joshua (Becky) Enck, Ariel LeBourveau, Sean LeBourveau, Shaun Kelly, Ashley (Patrick) O’Halloran; special niece Elsie Colburn and many other nieces and nephews and twenty-eight great grandchildren. Shirley was predeceased by her mother, father, husband Ray, her son Rod Rockwell; sisters Kathryn Steele and Rowena Fitzgerald; brothers Paul, Norman, Louis, Delmar and Calvin Chaffee. The family is so grateful to all caregivers and staff at Chase Memorial Nursing Home who lovingly cared for Shirley for nearly six years. They quickly became her family as well and loved her spirit and smile as much as we do. Calling hours will be held Friday, October 12, 2012 from 6 to 8pm at the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris. A memorial service with the Rev. Nancy Stanley officiating will be held on Sunday, October 14, 2012, at 2pm at the Morris Methodist Church. Burial will immediately follow at the Edmeston Union Cemetery in Edmeston.
