Anita was born December 9, 1936, to Robert and Bertha (Vaden) Williams in Dexter, KS. She was reared and educated in Dexter, graduating from Dexter High School in 1954.
On October 7 1955, Anita married James R. Green in Arkansas City where the couple made their home. Anita worked for the employment office until her children were born then she became a homemaker and housewife. After raising her children Anita worked for Headstart, then became the secretary for First United Methodist Church for 17+ years until her retirement.
Anita was a member of the ladies auxiliary and a foster grandparent for IXL school. Anita was a huge KU basketball fan, enjoyed sewing, her children and grandchildren’s 4-H, gardening, helping at the church, but most of all she cherished spending time with her family. Anita was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughters Michelle Wilson of Arkansas City, KS; Monica Frame and husband Brian of Roeland Park, KS; grandchildren Stephanie DeWald and husband Jason of Gardner, KS; Ashley Wilson of Arkansas City, KS; Lindsay Wilson of Ankeny, IA; Drake and Eve Frame of Roeland Park, KS; great-grandchildren Lincoln and Boston DeWald, Marley Horsley, Riley Clark; sisters Roberta Boomershine of Winfield, KS; and Jeanie Purcell of Texas.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents, husband James, daughter Sonya Estep, grandsons Slate and Henley DeWald, Kason Clark, and sister Shirley Curtis.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established with Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO, and the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
