Dean was born Nov. 5, 1931, in Broken Arrow, Okla., to William and Norah Brooks. He served his country in the Army as a cook for seven years. Dean also loved to fish and was involved with the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the AFL/CIO. He spent most of his life in Sacramento, Calif., and then retired to Sierra Vista in December 1987. Dean loved and helped many family members and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Dean is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Irene Brooks; sons, Ronald (Karen) Brooks Jr. of Roseville, Calif., and Steven (Sheryl) Brooks of Roseville, Calif.; daughters, Jennifer (Greg) Leard of Foresthill, Calif., Leaetta Brooks of Citrus Heights, Calif., and Wendy Morsea of Citrus Heights, Calif.; brother, Richard Brooks of Sacramento, Calif.; sisters, Margaret (Orin) Montgomery of Burney, Calif., and Mildred Hoyt of Sacramento, Calif.; and brother-in-law, Jimmy Lewis.
He also had 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
A time of visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. today, March 14, 2004, at the Hatfield Memorial Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 15, 2004, at the Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
