David “Big Dave” Wayne Hurst, age 63, of Bronston, KY, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at his residence.
Dave was born on January 18, 1956 in Covington, KY to the late Robert Hurst Jr. and Thedis Perry Hurst. He loved gardening, fishing and building things like swings and chairs. Dave was a hardworking man and veteran of the United States Army (The Old Guard). He was a machine operator for Armstrong Flooring. Dave especially loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Gail Mason Hurst, whom he married on September 19, 1972 in Covington, KY; his children, Eric (and Christine) Hurst of Independence, KY, Kelly Hurst of Somerset, Chad (and Gretchen) Hurst of Bronston and Bryan (and Liz) Hurst of Somerset; three brothers, Mike (and Kathy) Hurst of Monticello, Robert (and Evelyn) Hurst III of Burlington, KY and Steven (and Connie) Hurst of Mineral, VA; one sister, Carolyn (and Pat) O’Brien of West Chester, OH; thirteen grandchildren, Melanie, Danielle, Brayden, Jay-Tyler, Cheston, Riley, Lucas, Mason, Travis, Lauren, Raiden, Aralyn and Tuck; one great-grandchild, Karsen; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Sandra Long.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 28, 2019 after 5:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
His funeral service will be held on Friday, March 1, 2019 at 1:00pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Stan Mullins officiating. Burial will be at Quinton Cemetery in Bronston. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard.
