John Garland "Red" Henley, age 94, passed away at his home on Saturday, February 23, 2019.

Born October 25, 1924 to Lela Sink Henley and Clarence Boyd Henley, Red lived most of his life in Randleman.

He worked for many years at Randleman Gulf and Randleman A.B.C. store before retiring in 2004.

Red was a humble, hardworking man who never met a stranger. His honesty, integrity and sense of fairness were unmatched, making him a perfect role model for how to treat others. Until his advanced age and health issues took their toll, he never failed to tell a joke or relive a funny story with whoever happened to be around, and his laugh was infectious. He was generous beyond his means and was the first to offer help and the last to accept it. He was a loyal and true friend, and a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Red was never happier than when surrounded by his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. No matter what he was doing, he was never too busy to visit with a friend or take one of the little ones for a tractor ride. His family was blessed by his memories. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Red is preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Gentry of Hot Springs, NC.

He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Jacqueline "Jackie" Crotts Henley of the home; children: Linda Cranford; Danny (Marie) Henley; Ann (Richard "Dick") Shaw; Scott (Cindy) Henley; grandchildren: Jason (Leslie) Cranford; Emily (Chad) Welch; Matt (Tonya) Henley; great-grandchildren: Brantly Cranford; Jaxon Welch; Easton Henley and Phoenix Welch; sister: Ruth Linthicum Culler, as well as several step- grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 26, 2019 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 12:00 pm at Randolph Memorial Park, 4538 US Hwy 220 Bus. North, Asheboro with Rev. John Marlowe officiating.

The family would like to thank all who faithfully visited and called. A heartfelt thanks to the staff at Staywell Senior Care and Hospice of Randolph County for providing the support needed to make it possible for Red to live his final days at home with those he loved.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Of Randolph, P.O. Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204-0009, www.hospiceofrandolph.org. or any animal charity of donor's choice.
