James Steve Harden, 90, of Bloomington passed away Sunday, February 10, 2019 at home.

Steve was born May 27, 1928 in Bloomington, Indiana, to the late Lowell "Doc" Harden and Esther (Penrose) Harden.

He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army Air Corp; serving in World War II. In November, 1949 he married Barbara Jean Moore.

Steve was an independent truck driver and belonged to the Teamsters Union. He hauled some of the limestone to the Capitol Building and monuments in Washington, D.C. He also belonged to the American Legion and the Elks.
He moved to Florida in 1995 and returned to Bloomington in 2016. While in Florida he did a lot of fishing and golfing. And was the best family tour guide around. He enjoyed family coming to visit, but told us when he returned to Indiana that he didn't realize how much he had missed us.

Steve loved playing golf, and he caddied at the Bloomington Country Club at a young age. He was a member of several country clubs in the Naples and Bonita Springs, Florida area. He was a longtime member of Cascades Golf Course; winning the Super Senior Championship in 1995 and 2000; he was inducted into the Cascades Hall of Fame in 2010.

He will be greatly missed by his son, Jim Harden (Suzanne), daughter, Marilyn Patterson (Jerry), grand children, Jodi Ritter (Scott Hartgraves), Steven Harden (Emily Bailey), Kimberly Johnson, James M. Harden, Ryann Reagan (Larry), Nikki Beyers (David), and 11 great grand-children.
He was preceded in death by, wife, Barbara, son, Michael, brother, Hurshel Harden, and two sisters, Norma Jean Butler, and Vella Dean Zellner.

Visitation will be 11am-1pm on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. in Bloomington.

A memorial service will be 1:00pm Saturday at The Funeral Chapel with Les Rovenstine officiating.
