Janie Angel Surmont, age 96, of Lexington, KY and Fort Myers, FL, passed away Friday, February 22, 2019 at the Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington, KY. She was born on December 12, 1922 in Wades Mill, Clark County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Anna Lewis Henry Angel. She was the widow of the late Albert F. Surmont, Sr., whom she wed on July 18, 1948. She was preceded in death by both her siblings, her sister Anna Boardman Angel Kimble and her brother Loring Dudley Angel. She was a 60 year member of Hunter Presbyterian Church. She was primarilya homemaker, however she worked seasonally as an office manager at Gentry's Tobacco Warehouse. She had many happy memories of working for Pan American Airlines in Miami, FL early in her adult life. She also worked at Avon where she meet her future husband. She graduated from Clark County High School class of 1941. Janie is survived by three children, Albert F. (Helen) Surmont,Jr. of Morehead, Steven A. (Betty Sue) Surmont of Corbin, and Pamela S. Boyle of Villa Hills, KY.; nine grandchildren, Betty (Randy) Hawkins of Nicholasville, John Surmont of California, Joe (Sherry) Surmont of Wallingford, Stephanie Pennington of Corbin, Stacy (Kyle) Jones of Corbin, Rebecca (Bobby) Walker of Corbin, Aimee (Adam) Wulfeck of Fort Mitchell, Kyle (Jill) Boyle of Fort Wright, and Kim (Jeremiah) Reece of Louisville; 16 great grandchildren, Megan Urmson, Brittany and Kolby Hawkins, Kali, Luke, and Tobey Surmont, Marcus Troxell, Jasmine Johnson, Tyeler Pennington, Payton and Lake Jones,Isley and Tag Walker, Chase, Kaden, and Miles Wulfeck; and 4 great great grandchildren. Burial will be in Lexington Cemetery, Lexington, Kentucky.
