Born in Jackson, Mississippi on September 1, 1947 to Richard and Lorene Hibbets. She received her bachelor’s degree in journalism from New York University in 1971. A true believer in higher education she continued with a master’s degree in Hospital Administration from Georgia State University in 1979. She began her health care career with Dekalb Medical in Decatur, Georgia before moving to Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia to work at Hutcheson Medical Center for the next decade. In 1990, she returned to Dekalb Medical, working in physician recruitment. She finished her professional career as Practice Administrator for Pride Medical. Retirement never stopped her as she was a substitute teacher for the last few years.
Raised as a Lutheran, she converted to Catholicism prior to marrying her high school sweetheart. She had two lovely daughters, Lisa and Tara. In addition to doting on and raising her girls, she sang in her church choir, was a voracious reader, a lifelong sci-fi and fantasy fanatic, loved going to the movies, listening to show tunes and attending the opera. After her children grew up, she turned her maternal instincts and attention to her furry four-legged felines – Miss Lily Kitty and Miss Daisy Kitty. She was one of the world’s best grandmothers to Jackson and Josie Lindsay. Never missing a school activity, sporting event or even just helping with homework. She adored her trips to Sweden to see her other granddaughters, Hannah and Clara Quinn. Believing in creating a better world, she became extremely active in grass roots politics, working with the Gwinnett County Georgia Democratic Party.
The best way to describe Pam’s humanity was her insatiable desire to give of herself to all those in her life especially her family and community. She will be remembered and missed by many.
