Robert "Bob" William Wolters, M.D. passed away peacefully May 11, 2018 at his home in Fredericksburg, TX. He was 74 years old. Born in Columbus on February 19th, 1944, he attended the local schools, graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and medical school at UT Southwestern in Dallas, Texas. He served his country as an F4 pilot and flight surgeon in the Vietnam War stationed in Thailand. When he returned he specialized in Ophthalmology and practiced in San Antonio, Columbus and Cortez, Colorado.

Being an avid pilot, fisherman and sportsman, he actively pursued these interests. If he was not actually flying, he was studying about flying. If he wasn't fishing, he was tying flies. If he was not hunting, he was reloading ammunition. In his earlier years he loved to ski, and it was a hobby he enjoyed with his children. He spent many summers in Alaska salmon fishing on the Katmai Peninsula as well as Port O'Connor fishing the bays and gulf, living the coastal life. And as most sportsmen, he always had a constant companion with him, his beloved dogs.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Youens Wolters, his son Jake, wife Haley, grandchildren Sophia, Britton, Abigail and Grayson. His step-son John "Hans" White III and wife Amy, step grandchildren John IV and Remy. His step-daughter Molly Truax, husband Clint and step-grandson Thomas. Bob is also survived by his brothers John Wolters and wife Karen, Paul Wolters and wife Cynthia and sister Beth Beken and husband Henry.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents Robert Earl "Rabbit" and Faybeth Paulsen Wolters and daughter Anna Elizabeth Wolters.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus.

Memorial service will follow at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus on Friday at 11:00 am.
