Kentville – John Wesley Hiltz, one of the Forties oldest residents, died at his home following a brief illness. Born in The Forties 85 years ago, he was a son of the late Cornelius and Susan (Keddy) Hiltz. After completing his schooling in the Forties, he was engaged in the farming and lumbering throughout his lifetime and remained active until 1959. He took an active part in the church and community life. He was twice married, his first wife was the former Fannie Rodgers and by this union there were six children. Four sons: George, Chester Basin; Arch, Millville; Norman, The Forties; Abner, Lakeville; two daughters; Hanna (Mrs. Austin Reeves), New Ross; Bessie, Annapolis. In 1952 he married Lilla Dorey, formerly of Waldon, Lunenburg Co., who survives him. Also surviving are nine step-children. The late Mr. Hiltz who is resting at the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, Kentville, will be taken to the Forties Anglican Church for funeral services on Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock conducted by Rev. Mowrey with interment in the family lot, Forties.
