Dalton, Kathleen, Leah and I were at the Yeocomico Episcopal Church cemetery once during the summer of 1999. Dalton showed us there are quite a few of his relatives, the Griffiths, buried there. He mentioned about being buried there.
He had a 48-50 acres farm just off the Peckatone Road; nestled along the Jackson Creek and Potomac River.
Dalton Auer Griffith, of Reston, Va. and Kinsale, Va. died on Saturday, July 4, 2015. He was born Mar. 8, 1929 to the late Dalton Auer Griffith and Jane Tyler Griffith.
Mr. Griffith is survived by his sons, Stephen T. (Lesa) Griffith, and John D. (Cecilia) Griffith and grandchildren, Dalton T. Griffith, Tyler Renee Griffith, and Dylan H. Griffith. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Priscilla Bradley Griffith and dear friend Kathleen R. McLaren.
Mr. Griffith grew up in Wellesley Hills, MA. He graduated from the Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, CT, then Harvard University. He immediately joined the US Navy and served on a seaplane tender during the Korean War. Mr. Griffith spent several years working for J. Walter Thompson Advertising Agency in New York City. He then began a twenty year career with the U.S. Agency for International Development in Washington D.C. which involved extensive travel to Africa, Southeast Asia, and South America.
He mentioned flying down to Grenada just right after the US Army got the Cubans out in 1983.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Yeocomico Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made on the Doctors Without Borders website.
