Calvin William Buechting, 93, of Pevely died Sept. 13, 2018, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Buechting was a WWII Army veteran. He retired from St. Joe Lead Co. in Herculaneum where he was a clerk in the store room and medical department. He also had worked at PPG in Crystal City and the Martin and Ozark Dairy farms. He was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pevely, as well as a member of VFW 3777 in Festus, American Legion 253 in Festus and their patriot singing group.
Born Jan. 15, 1925, in Antonia, he was the son of the late Rose (Wuertenburg) and Frederick Joseph Buechting Sr.
He was preceded in death by one sister: Mildred (the late Walter) Strattman; two brothers: Earl (the late Winifred) Buechting and Fred “Jiggs” (the late Ruth) Buechting; and one sister-in-law: Helen (the late Vince) Joannes.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the funeral services at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, 2018, at Zion Lutheran Church, 310 Central Ave., in Pevely, officiated by Pastor Bryan Roberts. Burial with full military honors will be at Antonia Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church of Pevely or the Antonia Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
