OLIN- Julia Mae Millsaps Bailes, 84, passed away on February 22, 2019 at Gordon Hospice House with her family by her side. Born on April 25, 1934 in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter to the late William "Virgil" Millsaps and Irene Givens Millsaps.

Julia was of the Baptist faith. She was very crafty and was very talented playing the piano. She also was a lover of nature. Julia loved kids and worked in the after school daycare at Union Grove Elementary.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Hilbert Bailes in 2011; twin brother, Rev. James Ray Millsaps and two sisters, Gwen Millsaps Mason and Lois Millsaps Hutchings.

Left to cherish her memory is her three children, Dennis (Amantha) Gilreath, Jane (Charles) Johnson and David Gilreath; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; several brothers and sisters, along with many other loving family members.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 25, 2019 at 12pm at Grassy Knob Baptist Church with Pastor Alan Lunsford officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11am-12pm on Monday at the church prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Chad and, Dylan Gilreath, Wayne and Dwayne Millsaps, Steven and Rodney Oliver, Jerry Combs and Jeremiah Green.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Julia’s name to Iredell County Hospice and Palliative Care, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, North Carolina 28625.
