Ruth Zena Merck Dockery, 83, of Amarillo, died Sunday, May 12, 2002.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, with Bob Thomas, chaplain of Crown of Texas Hospice, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.

Mrs. Dockery was born Jan. 11, 1919, in Gainsville, Ga. She married Ernest Dockery on June 28, 1936, in Gainsville.

She moved to Amarillo from Georgia 41 years ago. She worked for many years as a food service manager. She resided in Bivins Memorial Nursing Home for the past three years.

She was preceded in death by her husband in June 1971; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Dockery in May 1978.

Survivors include 10 children, Tom Dockery and wife, Betty, Bill Dockery and wife, Merle, Tim Dockery and wife, Angela, Steve Dockery and wife, Cindy, Phyllis Raff and Terri Mabra, all of Amarillo, Linda Dexter and husband, Art, of Hughesville, Md., Andrea Garcia and husband, Joe, of Belton, and Carol Kramp and husband, Ray, and Judy Kramp and husband, Randy, all of Montello, Wis.; a sister, Mary Sue Allison of Cornelia, Ga.; 30 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Bivins Memorial Nursing Home, 1001 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79106.
