Clarence James, age 83, of Mohawk, passed away Friday, February 15, 2019 at Johnson City Medical Center. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Mae James; brother, J.B. James; and sisters, Pauline Myers, Helen Gregg, and Viola Adams.

He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Meritta James; son, Landon (Lisa) James of Mohawk; daughters, Kima Bean of Mohawk and Sue Brown Thornton of Newport; grandchildren, Landon James, Jr., Punky (special friend, Kenny) Trent, Michael Luke James, Jamie Valentine, and Dawn Lloyd; great-grandchildren, Addison James, Elijah James, and papaw’s baby doll, Kayleigh Trent; and several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Family and friends will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 20th at Sunrise Baptist Church Cemetery in Bulls Gap for graveside services with Rev. Greg Douthat officiating.
