She graduated from Linn Grove Consolidated School and attended Buena Vista College earning her teacher’s degree. Later, she furthered her education by attending Denver University in Colorado and Drake University in Iowa. She taught school in Bradgate, Rutland, Greenville and Sac City.

Survivors include her son: William (Bill) George Leonard and fiancée, Mary Archambalt; daughter Rebecca (Becky) Jean Leonard-Shull and husband Bob Shull; grandson Ross Cameron Leonard of Lytton, IA. Other survivors include her sisters: Gladys Zwiefel of Spirit Lake, IA, Helen Porter of Spencer, IA, and Shirley (Ray) Ohrtman of Spencer, IA; her brothers: Glenn (Pat) Lovrien of Hemet, CA, and Bob Lovrien or Rockford, IL; many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
