79, of Indianapolis, IN, devoted mother and grandmother, passed away on November 28, 2014.
She was born January 16, 1935, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Charles Maxon Halley and Ruth Ringle Halley, and was a 1952 graduate of Columbian High School in Tiffin. She received her Licensed Practical Nurse designation from Harper Hospital in Detroit, MI.
Phyllis was a LPN at Harper Hospital in Detroit, MI. She lived in Indianapolis since 1964 and was a homemaker for most of her life. She worked at the after school Y program, and most recently retired from Lazarus/Macy's after 15 years.
Phyllis loved to spend time with her family, read and cook. She enjoyed nature. She was an avid Colts and Pacers fan.
Survivors include: daughter, Deborah Walters (and late Dave Walters) of Westfield, IN; son, David Hermann and wife, Susan of Martinsville, IN; son, Stephen Hermann and wife, Wendy of Chicago, IL; and grandchildren, Amy, Stacey and Ryan Walters, Alex Hermann, Hailey De Vries (Dexter) and Lucy, Nick, and Helen Hermann.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her brother, Charles (Gene) Halley of Las Vegas, Nevada; and sisters, Dorothy Lawson of Tiffin, Ohio, and Gilda Steel of Martinsville, West Virginia. She is survived by her sister, Donna Nevens of Salida, Colorado. Her family will miss her, and are grateful for many good memories.
A visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., with a Memorial Service following at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 22, 2014, at St. Lukes United Methodist Church, 100 W. 86th St., Indianapolis, IN 46260. Arrangements entrusted to Flanner and Buchanan - Carmel.
