David H. Walters, 56, of Fort Wayne, IN, devoted husband and father, passed away on April 21, 2014. He was born March 11, 1958, in Indianapolis, Indiana, and was a graduate of North Central High School in 1976.
In 1979, Dave married his high school sweet-heart Deborah Hermann, and graduated from Purdue University in 1980 with a BS in Business Management.
Dave worked for Farmers Insurance Group in Columbus, OH, then transferred to their home office in Los Angeles, CA. In 1990, Dave moved to Carmel, Indiana, and worked for Indiana Lumbermens Mutual Insurance Company, the last 14 years as Corporate Secretary. While in Carmel, he was a member and served as a Deacon for Orchard Park Presbyterian Church. In 1988, he received his Chartered Property and Casualty Underwritier (CPCU) designation. He spent time working with the Insurance Institute of Indiana. Since 2009, Dave worked for Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Company, most recently as their Assistant Vice-President of Underwriting. In March 2013, Dave was elected to the board of Fort Wayne Habitat for Humanity, and in January 2014 served as VP of the board of Habitat.
Dave belonged to The Chapel. Dave loved to water ski, boat, fish, do home repairs and spend time with his family.
Dave was a devoted husband and father, and is survived by his wife of 34 years, Deborah.

Walters, of Houston, TX; mother, Marilyn Walters of Carmel, IN; father and stepmother, Harold W. and Donna S. Walters of Hutchinson, KS; two sisters, Cynthia Keller and husband, Scott of Westfield, IN; and Diane Merryman of Hutchinson, KS; sister-in-law Debra Walters of Plainfield, IN, and two brothers-in-law David Hermann and wife Susan of Martinsville, IN, and Stephen Hermann and wife Wendy of Chicago, IL, and many nieces and nephews.
Dave was preceded in death by his brother Michael Walters, sister Nancy Brentlinger, and nephew Brad Brentlinger.
A visitation will be from 9 -11 a.m., with a Memorial Service following at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at The Chapel, 2505 W Hamilton Rd S., Fort Wayne, IN.
