...died as a young man aged 16, cemetery inscriptions refer to him as John Benham Copcutt with no suffix of Jr....his grandmother Ann Crook Copcutt, wife of John Beetson Copcutt affectionately called him "Johnny," and formally addressed him as "J. B. Copcutt, Jr." She always spoke to him softly and kindly, unlike her stern addresses to most other family members. She never criticized Johnny or her husband in letters. His grandmother died 4 days before he did.
