Age 70. Passed away while doing what he loved, running on the beach near his home in Encinitas, CA. Doug was born in Omaha, to Duane M. and Mae H. Perry. He was an ever-loyal graduate of Omaha Central High School and Stanford University, where he earned both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Civil Engineering. With his first wife, he was the proud father of 2 daughters, Kristen Perry and Laura Perry. In 2008, Doug married Nancy Roberts, with whom he was enjoying retirement, travel, and their California home. Doug had a successful business career in the computer industry and helped to found several technology companies before turning his attention to solar energy. In 2017, he retired from Tenaska, Inc., an Omaha energy company. Doug recently embarked on his newest venture as a sailing instructor. Doug's family, friends, and colleagues knew him to be both hard-working and generous, as well as passionate about sailing, baseball, running, and fly-fishing. In addition to Nancy, Kristen, and Laura, many will fondly remember Doug, including his grandchildren, Jack, Isabel, and Henry Westbrook, and Benjamin Sacks; as well as his step-daughter, Melissa Rock, and her children, Madison and Emily Rock.

Plans for a Memorial Service are pending. Donations can be made to the Duane Perry Mathematics Scholarship through the Omaha Central High School Foundation.
