Bobby Glenn Russ, 66 of Fort Sumner passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday evening, February 19, 2019 in Fort Sumner. He was born March 2, 1952 in Andrews, Texas to the home of William Glenn and Wanda Lee (Miller) Russ. The family made their home in Lovington, and Clovis before moving to Fort Sumner. Bobby attended Fort Sumner schools graduating with the class of 1970. Bobby married Joyce Owens on October 22, 2011 in Floydada, Texas.

Bobby grew up working alongside his father and brothers at Russ and Sun Auto Repair in Fort Sumner. Besides the auto repair shop, they also operated the ambulance service from 1970-1981, and a towing company since 1985. Bobby operated a school bus route for 40 years.

Bobby served as the De Baca County Emergency Preparedness Coordinator for several years. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Fort Sumner. When he was not working, he enjoyed attending and video recording local sporting events.

Bobby is preceded in death by his mother Wanda Russ on December 13, 2014, his father Glenn Russ on April 6, 2016, and a brother Lyle Russ on July 30, 2018.

He will be missed by his family and the Fort Sumner community. Survivors include his wife Joyce Russ of Fort Sumner, a son Glenn Russ and his wife Renee of Clovis, a daughter Valerie Jean Russ of Portales, two grandchildren Brianna Russ and Marisa Russ both of Roswell, stepsons Jason Owens and wife Mandy of Yukon, Oklahoma, Dustin Owens and wife Katrina of Amarillo, TX, and James Owens of Amarillo, TX, three step grandchildren Jonathan Owens, David Owens, and Jackson Owens. Also surviving are Bobby's brothers Eldon Russ and wife Sophia of Clovis, and Loyd Russ of Fort Sumner along with two nephews Eldon Russ Jr, and Luke Russ both of Clovis, three nieces Jennifer Jiminez of Albuquerque, Melissa Barela of Clovis, and Mindy Budianto of Pensacola, Florida along with a host of friends.

Visitation hours will be Thursday, February 21, 2019 from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, February 22, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Fort Sumner with Rev. Joe Bunce officiating burial will follow at Sudan Cemetery, Sudan, Texas at 5:00 p.m. (C.S.T.).
