She, along with Special Forces Chief Warrant Officer 2 Jonathan R Farmer, former Navy SEAL Scott A Wirtz, and Ghadir Taher, an American working as a civilian interpreter, were killed when a suicide bomber detonated his vest. She had four deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. Among her military awards and decorations were the Bronze Star; Purple Heart; Joint Service Commendation Medal; Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal; Army Commendation Medal; Joint Service Achievement Medal; Joint Meritorious Unit Award; Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Iraq Campaign Medal; Combat Action Ribbon; Sea Service Deployment Ribbon; Rifle Marksmanship Ribbon; and Pistol Marksmanship Ribbon.

She was survived by her husband of 5 years; and two sons.

Interment on February 25, 2019.
