John R. Huff, 87, of Bloomdale, died at 9:13 p.m., on Sunday, February 17, 2019, at The Toledo Hospital. He was born on November 18, 1931, in Perry Township, Wood County, OH to the late Samuel B. and Cecelia (Filliator) Huff. He married Lucille Marie Alt on May 5, 1956, and she preceded him in death on August 19, 2013. John is survived by his son, Vincent (Debbie) Huff of Tipp City, OH; his daughter, Violet Huff of Bloomdale; his grandchildren: Jessica (Mark) Breno of New Lebanon and Jonathan "J.T." (Tia) Huff of Tipp City; his great-grandchildren: Alex, Eli, Josh Breno, and Bradley Brower; his brother, Samuel (Carol) Huff of FL; his sister-in-law, Rosie Huff of Fostoria; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Albert, Ralph, Bill and Burton; and his sisters: Lula Yates and Ivy Zimmerman. John retired from the A&P Tomato Factory in 1978 and also from Seneca Wire Mill in 1996. He then went to work 14 years at Pelton Popcorn Company. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, North Baltimore, and a 50 year member of F.O.E. #430 in Fostoria. He was a 1950 graduate of Fostoria High School. John was known by his family and friends as someone you could count on. He enjoyed gardening, dogs, and his chickens. His favorite things to do were spending time with family and block parties with friends. A private graveside service will be held in Weaver Cemetery, Bloom Township. A celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bloomdale Volunteer Fire and Rescue and/or Wood County Humane Society.
