Obituary for Mrs. June H. Weems
June H. Weems passed away at The Gardens of William Hill on Wednesday, August 13, 2014. She was 94. She was born in Sherwood, MD on January 13, 1920 and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Etta Sewell Horney. She graduated from Tilghman Island High School in 1938 and later married Edmund W. (Woody) Weems on October 26, 1942 and raised four children.
June worked at the Royal Oak Post Office for over twenty five years and delivered mail to the folks in the Royal Oak and Bellevue area until she was 86 years old. She enjoyed her time there and the friends she developed on the mail route.
She was a faithful and dedicated member of the Royal Oak Community United Methodist Church serving on numerous boards, singing in the choir, helping with Sunday School, and helping organize Thanksgiving Baskets for the needy. She took great pleasure in cooking, collecting recipes, gardening and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her four children, Joseph Weems of Trappe, Steve Weems and his wife Beth of Trappe, Nancy Beatty and her husband Scott of Royal Oak and Karen Hayman of Easton.
June was blessed with eight grandchildren, Brandon and Traci Weems of Easton, Travis and Cathy Weems of Cordova, Erin Beatty of North Carolina, Jason and Holli Hayman of Crofton, Trevor Hayman and partner Leilani Lowman of Annapolis, Judd and Kara Beatty of North Carolina, Seth and Shannon Beatty of Royal Oak and Julia Hayman of Easton; and twelve great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Joseph Horney of Easton.
