He was born on March 24, 1950 in Canton to Willis Loyal and Donna Jean Irene (Snyder) Tyler. He married Irene Padua on January 22, 1974.
Thomas is survived by his wife; children, Jerry Tyler of Bath, Jeff (Joy) Tyler of Eagle River, Alaska, Sue (Trey) Westrich of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and James (Jennifer) Tyler of Grovetown, Georgia; nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He is also survived by his sister, Freda (Tom) Davis of Braidwood, Illinois and brother, Timothy (Billie) Tyler of Havana.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Thomas enlisted in the U.S. Marines in 1969. He served for four years with two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a member of the VFW and the UAW. Thomas worked for Caterpillar and retired after 32 years.
