Charlotte Jane Roark, 86, of Pana passed away Monday, February 18, 2019 in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield. She was born November 13, 1932 in Ashley, IL to the late Samuel & Hallie Edith (Qualls) Cameron.
Charlotte graduated with a master’s degree in education from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and worked for many years as a 1st grade teacher at Pana Schools. She was the past president of the Teacher’s Association and enjoyed flower & vegetable gardening. Charlotte had a giving spirit and was a caregiver to many people over the years; getting them to appointments or just sitting with them and visiting.
Charlotte married Logan Roark, Jr. on August 14, 1955 in Norris City, IL. He preceded her in death on April 26, 1999.
She is survived by her children: Judith Kay (Jim) Gallagher, Gilroy, CA and Michael J. (Vicki) Roark, Woodstock, GA; grandchildren: Michelle (Chris) Pittman, James Gallagher, Joshua Gallagher, Jacob Gallagher, Jennifer Gallagher, Jonathan Gallagher; great grandchildren: Blake & Calum; and siblings: Cathy (David) Daughtery, Ruth (Fred) Reed, Bill (Mary) Cameron. She was also preceded in death by 3 brothers & 2 sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2019 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Jim Gallagher officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Pana.
