Charles W. “Bill” Stoner, 96, of Elkhart died Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Hubbard Hill Estates.
He was born July 7, 1922 in Williston, North Dakota to Clarence V. and Catherine (Rapp) Stoner.
On November 15, 1942 he married Rosemary Berkey in Vistula. She preceded him in death on May 24, 2015.
Survivors include three daughters, Christie (Keith) Rogers of Brasstown, North Carolina, Shelly (Ron) Stoner-Sellers of Lawton, Michigan and Janel (David) Thomas of Goshen; a daughter-in-law, Lou Ann Stoner of Wolcottville; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Terry Stoner, a sister, Barbara Pief, and a great-grandson, Mason Shetler.
A WWII veteran, Mr. Stoner served in the U.S. Army from April 1943 until May 1946. He worked at Turtle Top, Industries, New Paris before retiring from Fort Wayne Pool. He was a member of the Model Airplane Club and the American Motorcycle Association.
A 10 a.m. funeral service will be conducted Friday, February 22, 2019 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, with one hour of visitation prior to the service.
Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery, Goshen with military honors.
