Sir Lyell McEwin was Chief Secretary, Minister of Health and Minister of Mines in the South Australian Cabinet for 15 years and a member of the Legislative Council for nearly 20 years. He was an able administrator, and during his term of office provided valuable assistance in improving and enlarging health and hospital services.
