Joseph Randal Yates, 66, of Barling, Arkansas died Sunday, February 17, 2019 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was a self- employed owner of Electric Contractor for Yates Electric, fished professionally for ten years for Redman Circuit, Bassmaster, won the Redman all American in 1986 and a Bassmaster Qualifier in 1992. He was born August 17, 1952 in Altus, Arkansas to Ray Douglas and Louise Harris Yates. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Wanda Rae Yates-Cobb.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Margie Dillon Yates of Barling; a daughter, Amy Yates-Bunch of Fort Smith, Arkansas; a son, Joe Yates and wife Kari of Lavaca, Arkansas; two brothers, Bill and Kenneth Yates both of Ozark; and four grandchildren, Kyndal Ann Yates, Terren, Tavia, and Jay Bunch.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jimmy Morrison officiating and burial at Highland Cemetery under direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark. Serving as pallbearers are Brad Morrison, Randy Pittman, Ronnie Burcham, Phillip Smith, Robert Joslin, and Danny Womack.
