Steve Harris, 63 years 2 months and 4 days of age, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, lost his battle with cancer on Monday evening, February 18th, 2019.
Steve was born on Wednesday, December 14th, 1955, son of Ann Harris-Garner and the late Charles M. Harris. Steve was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area, a 1974 graduate of Brainerd High School, and owner operator of Steve Harris Home Inspections in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Steve was a member of Silverdale Baptist Church, where he served as Head Usher and was very active in the Wild Game Dinners for the Church. Steve loved NASCAR, his Z-350 Nissan, hunting and coaching youth baseball at Harrison.
Steve was survived by two sons, Shawn Harris and Joshua Virgil "Josh" Harris; two grandchildren, Arianna Harris and Shawn Avery Harris; his mother, Ann Harris-Garner; two brothers, Mike Harris and Charles (and his wife, Suzanne) Harris; two nephews; one niece; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles M. Harris; and his step-father, James Edward "Red" Garner, who departed this life on December 9th, 2016.
Visitations were held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 21st, 2019 and again from 10 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel in Hixson, Tennessee.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 22nd, 2019 in the Chapel of the Chattanooga Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Walliser officiating.
Burial followed in the Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
