John Cary Satterfield, 82, of West Lebanon, Ind., passed away at 1 a.m. EST Sunday, February 17, 2019, at his home.

John Cary Satterfield was born May 15, 1936, the only child of William and Ruby (Beekman) Satterfield on his father's farm on Nace Corner, near Sinking Springs, Ohio.

He attended Western School, where his mother taught him in first, third and fourth grades. He graduated in 1953. In '56, he moved to Kentland, Ind., to be near his cousin John's family, the Barrs of East Lynn, Ill. He worked on their farm and later as a truck driver in Kentland.

In 1967, he married Sally Meyer in Kentland. She preceded him in death in 1990. He later married Marilyn Renville in West Lebanon, Ind. She preceded him in death in 2002.

He worked 45 years as an over-the-road truck driver for Artim and Ryder Truck Lines in Danville and LCL of Lafayette. He was a union steward for the Teamsters. He later worked for Tom Weston, farming. He enjoyed country music concerts and traveling.

Upon his retirement, his life became full again with the birth of his twin grandsons, Marc and Matt, whom he lived for. His later years were filled with overflowing love among the three of them. They took loving care of him always. He enjoyed having coffee uptown at the fire station and the Patriot Mart.

He is survived by his daughter, Marcy (Kevin) Johnson, grandsons Marcus and Matthew Johnson, brother-in-law John Goodrick, all of West Lebanon; sister-in-law Kathy Clark of Covington; and two nephews, Joe (Marian) Goodrick of Terre Haute and Dennis Hall of Las Vegas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, William Cary Satterfield, and his nephew and namesake, John Cary Goodrick.

Per his wishes, there will be no service. He will be buried with Sally at Mann's Chapel in Rossville, Ill.
