Mikayla Dawn Serr – 2012-2019 Our sweet little angel “KK” returned home to her Heavenly Father on Thursday, February 14, 2019. Mikayla was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on November 14, 2012, to Michael Serr and Tiffany Miller. She battled a life-long illness with enthusiasm, joy and courage. She never complained and shined through her pain and suffering with a smile. It is appropriate that she returned home on Valentine’s Day because she brought so much love into the world and in return, received much love from family and friends. She will always be our little sweetheart. Mikayla was always full of happiness and wonder at the little things in life and carried a perpetual smile. She was a kindergärtner at Entheos Academy in Magna, Utah and she delighted in having her classmates push her around in her wheelchair, earning Mikayla the nickname “Wheels.” Mikayla always had a hug for all her classmates and teachers. Our family is especially thankful for Mikayla’s friend Aimie, who always looked out for her.

Mikayla brought the greatest joy to her family, and she was especially close to her mother and father who nurtured her with tenderness, love and unyielding faith and devotion. Her sister, Shailey, who loved her deeply was her best friend, playmate and protector. Mikayla was blessed with wonderful grandparents and fantastic aunts and uncles. She had a special bond with her Uncle Mike who shared his adventures with her, carrying her on hikes, involving her in games and helping her see the world around her, as well as packing her anywhere her heart desired. Some of Mikayla’s favorite things to do was playing dolls with her Aunt Shalese and getting her Aunt Tina to let her use all her makeup and perfumes. No matter who it was, she was always able to get anyone to play with her, even her future uncle Braydon playing Barbies. She also loved spending time with her aunts, Sabrina and Christy and her Uncle Neil as often as she could.

Mikayla is survived by her parents, Mike and Tiffany, her big sister Shailey, grandmother, Jerri Esplin Miller (Mikayla always called her “Papa”), grandparents, Doyle and Beth Serr, her uncles and aunts and many members of the extended family who loved her and were loved by her. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Mark Miller, and her uncle, Patrick Serr. Mikayla’s passing will leave a huge void in our lives, but we are comforted to know that her earthly trials have ended and she is freed from her physical limitations, knowing she is standing tall and playing joyfully. We are so grateful for the wonderful memories, her sass and her funny sayings. We will miss you KK, until we meet again.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at noon at the Forest Bend Ward Chapel, 7784 South Highland Drive, Cottonwood Heights, Utah. Viewings will be held on Friday, February 22 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at Cannon Mortuary, 2460 Bengal Blvd, Cottonwood Heights, Utah and from 10:30am to 11:30am at the chapel the morning of the service. Mikayla will be interred at the Memorial Mountain View Cemetery, 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, Utah.
