Patricia (Pat) Curley Glass
September 18, 1934 – February 11, 2019
Mary Patricia Curley Glass passed away on February 11, 2019 at age 84 years surrounded by her family. The daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Powers) Curley, Pat was born September 18, 1934 in Richmond, Virginia. Pat was raised in Richmond, where she attended St. Benedict’s Catholic Elementary School and was a 1952 graduate of St. Gertrude’s Catholic High School.
Upon graduation Pat went to work for Southern States Cooperative as a teletype operator. She married Benjamin W. Glass, Jr., on September 8, 1956, and in the spring of 1957 moved to Falls Church, Virginia. Three years later Pat and Ben moved to Annandale, Virginia, where they lived and raised their family from 1960 to the present.
Pat was an active member of St. Michael’s Parish for almost 60 years, as well as a parent volunteer for 25 years at St. Michael’s School. She was a room mother, cafeteria assistant, substitute teacher, playground mom, and more. Pat was a founding member of The Lazarus Group of St. Michael’s Church.
Pat had a 15-year career at the Annandale Methodist Preschool as a teacher’s assistant. In 1991 she went to work for the Inova Fairfax Hospital Child Care Center where she taught and cared for preschool children for 22 years until the center closed in 2013.
Pat was a loving wife to her husband of 62 years, Benjamin W. Glass, Jr., and devoted mother to her seven children, Ben, III (Sandi); Terry Patterson; Kathy Albrecht (Dennis); Thomas (Laurie); Daniel (Laura); Patty Glass; and Eileen Patterson (Andrew). Pat is also survived by her 27 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Pat loved spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved a good Irish celebration and never missed a St. Patrick’s Day party!
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Anna Curley, 5 sisters and 4 brothers.
In lieu of flowers, Pat requested donations be made to Capital Caring Hospice Services (www.capitalcaring.org or 2900 Telestar Court, Falls Church, Virginia 22042).
Visitation/Calling Hours are Sunday, February 17, 2019 at 2:00-5:00 p.m. Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home, 9902 Braddock Road, Fairfax, Virginia. Mass of Christian Burial to take place at St. Michael’s Catholic Church.
