FUNERAL RITES HELD FOR EDWARD WATSON OF TIMES RECORD
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the College Avenue Presbyterian Church for Edward W Watson, 61, Aledo, comptroller of The Times Record. Mr Watson died Thursday morning, Dec 7, 1967, after suffering a heart attack while at work at the newspaper office.
Services were conducted by the Rev Lorenz DeVries, pastor of the Presbyterian Church and burial was in the Aledo Cemetery under the direction of the Reiser Funeral Home.
Born Nov 8, 1906 in Aledo, he was the son of Robert & Bessie Wolff Watson. He was graduated from Aledo High School, Culver Military Academy and attended Knox College in Galesburg.
He married Irene Arnold on May 29, 1955, in Nowata, Okla.
A lifelong resident of Aledo, Mr Watson was a member of the Aledo Civic Assn., member and Elder of the College Avenue Presbyterian Church; member of Mason Lodge 252 in Aledo, the Moline Consistory and Mohammad Shrine, Peoria, and the American Legion. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr Watson had been employed by The Times Record since February of 1944.
Surviving are his wife; three sisters, Mrs Max (Bobby) Henrysen of Corning, Iowa, Mrs John (Jean) Flynn of Tucson, Ariz., and Mrs Fred (Frances) Sommer of Prescott, Ariz.; two stepsons, John M Arnold of Atlanta, Ga., and Dan C Arnold of Fort Smith, Ark., and four grandchildren.
