Sara English

Memorial services for Sara Anne English, 15, will be 5 p.m. Thursday at Green Law Church of Christ.

Sarah died Sunday, May 2, 1999, in New Mexico.

She was born March 24, 1984, in Lubbock.

She began school at Hardwick Elementary and was a ninth-grader at MacKenzie Junior High at the time of her death.

Sara was a straight A student and was Student of the Month at least once each year. She was first chair oboe in MacKenzie's Symphonic Band and recently won a position in the All-Region Band. She was also a past choir member.

She was a member and officer in the National Junior Honor Society and recently received the Monterey Optimists award, an award for high character voted on by teachers. She was nominated for this year's MacKenzie Hall of Fame award and the Daughters of the American Republic award.

Her goal was to be a teacher, and she often volunteered in her mother's classroom at Brown Elementary.

Most dear to Sara was her faith. She was an active member of her church youth group and often taught Bible classes during Vacation Bible School and on mission trips.

Survivors include her parents, Jady and Susan English of Lubbock; her sisters, Traci English of Lubbock; and her grandparents, Pete and Barbara English of Abilene and Delta Loney of Carlsbad, N.M.

Her family suggests memorials to the Sara English Scholarship Fund at Lubbock Christian University.
