Death of Meriden Resident
Mrs. Clara Virginia Mark, a long-time resident in the Meriden community, died Friday afternoon at her home in Meriden. Mrs. Mark, who was 78 years old, was born August 13, 1862, in Mattoon, Ill., and came to Kansas with her parents when a child, settling on a farm near Valley Falls. Her parents later moved to Westmoreland, where she was married in 1885 to Charles L. Mark, and at which time she and her husband moved to Meriden. Her husband died in 1919.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. George Brown, of Meriden, Mrs. Bert Grimes, Ponca City, Okla. and Mrs. Will West, Meriden; two sons, Frank Mark, Topeka, and Eugene Mark, Meriden; three brothers, S. F. Rains, Topeka, Lloyd Rains, California, and Edward Rain, Lawrence; 30 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a. m. Sunday at the Meriden Methodist church. Burial was in Westmoreland cemetery.
