Ware Shoals – Lula Mae “Sis” Smith Pruitt, 89, widow of Carrol Pressley Pruitt, first married to the late Benjamin Edward Smith, formerly of Ware Shoals, died Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Emerald Gardens in Greenwood.

Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of William Edgar and Beulah Knighton Hughes She was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church. She was retired from Riegel Textile Co. and Park Seed Company. After her retirement she enjoyed spending time in her yard and with her friends at the Ware Shoals Senior Citizens Center.
Surviving are three daughters, Toni Culbreath, Ware Shoals, Sheila Taylor (Len), Ware Shoals and Cindy Harris(George), Greenwood; and a step-daughter, Bennie Thompson of Chester, a brother, Rusty Hughes of Fort Allen, La. two sisters, Joy Fleming of Greenwood, Jennie Lou Moore of Bluffton, five grandchildren, Andrea Harris Cabe (Frank), Lance Taylor (Brittany), Allison Taylor, Genevieve Harris, Jacob Harris (Beth) and three great-grandchildren.

She was pre-deceased by three brothers, Bill Hughes, Benny Knighton, and Durra Ray Knighton , a sister Frances Muse, and a granddaughter, Selena Culbreath.
The family would like to recognize the staff of Emerald Gardens, Bebe Wesson, and many others that treated her with respect and love throughout her time there.
